INFORMATION |
 |
Baton Rouge is the second largest city
in the State of Louisiana and is located along the Mississippi
River. It is the home of Louisiana State University and Agricultural
and Mechanical College (LSU). Established in 1859, the university is
one of thirteen land, sea and space grant schools in the country,
and has a student body of over 32,000. LSU is nicknamed the Fighting
Tigers and the school colors are purple and yellow. The university
has twenty varsity sports teams that compete in the SEC Conference.
The football team plays at the 92,000 seat Tiger Stadium. It is
often referred to as Death Valley because of the amount of noise the
crowd makes each game.
