KNOXVILLE INFORMATION

Often referred to as Knoxvegas, Knoxville is the third largest city in Tennessee and is the home of the University of Tennessee (UT). The city received its nickname from students who attend UT.  Established in 1794, the University of Tennessee is the oldest college west of the Appalachian Mountains. UT encompasses 550 acres and has a student body of over 26,000. The school has 20 varsity teams who participate in the SEC Conference. The most successful teams at UT are the women's and men's basketball teams and the football team. Although its not the official school song, Rocky Top is one of the most popular songs played at any college game. The football team plays at Neyland Stadium, one of the largest football stadiums in the country.
